When an object or creature native to the Reverie passes through into the waking world, the natural mirajin it radiates reacts to the presence of the Fatis Mirajin on Valenth. The result of this is miraplasm-- a viscous substance, the manifestation of pure mirajin energy from the Reverie itself. Miracrystals often form on standing miraplasm. Miraplasm is a mutagenic liquid, capable of transforming living organisms on contact. The most dramatic and outlandish mirajin-spawned mutants are the result of immersion in or consumption of miraplasm; even a small droplet or dab will instantly mutate the area touched. The only natural source of miraplasm is a leupak's venom; it consists of anywhere from 15 to 45 percent miraplasm. While leupaks can be venom-milked, separating a significant amount of miraplasm from the venom is currently impossible, even with modern equipment or magic. |
