Valenth

Vitae is, in a word, life.
All living beings possess some quantity of vitae; it is the stuff of the soul which cycles endlessly in Valenth's birth-death-rebirth process.

Pure vitae is a benign, dormant energy with a teal aura which shifts in color depending upon influence by other elements. It can be harnessed in magic as a catalyst of growth, healing, or purification.
Unguided, it collects in growing plants and animals, slowly drawing away as the time of natural death approaches. Long-lived species lose their innate vitae more slowly than those with shorter lifespans, while immortals slowly collect more throughout their lives.

Vitae is a highly malleable element; this can prove detrimental. Currently, the planet's source of pure vitae is diminishing faster than it can be restored or purified. It is unknown how a creature born of impure vitae would be affected, but rumors state that the Firestarters may know more about this.
In ages past, vitae was believed to be an infinite resource, but that mindset has been discouraged in modern times.
